book an expedition with us.
If you’re wondering how to book a sea wolf tour, you are in the right place!

Contact us to receive more information. Participants/legal guardians must fill out liability release and medical forms and pay trip deposit to confirm a reservation. Once your reservation is confirmed we will send you a pre-departure package so you can prepare accordingly for you adventure.
Deposit
Significant planning and logistics goes into each trip. A $2,000 non-refundable deposit is required per person to reserve each spot. For charters/custom trips a 30% deposit is required to reserve your trip dates. The balance owing is due 120 days before your trip departure date and is non-refundable, unless, upon cancellation, we are able to find a suitable replacement.
Participants must purchase independent trip insurance, including cancellation insurance, to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
Prices & Payment
Prices are subject to 5% GST (Goods and Services Tax) and all payments are to be made in Canadian funds. Prices are subject to change without notice. Payments can be made by cheque, e-transfer, or wire transfer.
Minimum Booking
We keep our group sizes rather small, but require a minimum of 4 participants to confirm a trip. Maximum group size is 6. Charters discounts are based based a full trip.
What’s included
Your payment covers all expenses during the course of your trip dates and time. This includes accommodation, food, beverage, and camping gear (except sleeping bag), and any other fees associated with the expedition.
Please note: Some trips include shuttle/taxi service and/or float plane ride to the boat, base camp, or dock, others do not. Accommodation booked before or after trip start date are not included, however we are happy to make recommendations.

In general most encounters are 90m plus and usually a few times a year we may meet an inquisitive or curious wolf or wolves who chooses to come very close.

Bring a range of lenses, but long lenses are a must. You should favour fast glass for low light situations and be able to carry your full backpack on forest trails for up to 1 hour at a time.

Yes, but your guide will advise you on when and how it should, or should not be used.

Often, especially through the off season, and when the weather is inclement. If the weather is good, wearing earth tones and tucking into the forest edge or within a the shoreline is also very effective. The use of blinds is situational, and we always have them on hand, should we need/want them.

For getting in and out of the boat waders are better than rubber boots, and waders will allow you to extend your time in the field against the movements of the tide. Rubber boots are manageable, but waders are recommended and open the door to more opportunities.

In the last 5 years we have had 2 trips that didn't see wolves. We have had trips with sparse and distant sightings, or sightings in the dark. Considering how challenging sea wolves are to see, we are very proud of our track record and work extremely hard to offer reliable trips.

Yes, we have very reliable sea otters and mink at our base camp, black bears are common. There can be excellent opportunities to photograph sea otters on all of our trips. Most of the large birds in the area are very skittish, but the smaller shore birds will often put on a show. Generally if we are focused on wolves, we tend not to see a lot of other wildlife activity.

No and no. With 20 years of bear and wolf guiding experience, we have never needed to unholster a bear spray. We do have many stories to share though!

Yes, the climate on the West side of Vancouver Island can vary drastically over the course of a trip. On a cold rainy August day the temperature could drop to 10 degrees celsius, and a few days later soar to 35 degrees celsius.

Yes, sponge baths, or hanging a camp shower for a rustic cleanse is available.

We bring in residential drinking water, and use rainwater collected off the roof for dishes.

No, but we do have radios and satellite messaging devices available for emergencies, or if you need to send a message home.

Yes, we provide a 1000 watt generator which provides ample power for all charging needs.

Your crew works extremely hard to provide you the opportunity to photograph wolves, tips are always appreciated. 5-10% is common, and cash is preferred.

Tour prices vary depending on the following variables. Season, number of days, method of transportation (air, road, boat) and private vs group.
